Free Tree Saplings at Schenectady Greenmarket, May 3rd

The Scotia-Glenville Lions (SGLions.org) will be providing free tree saplings at Schenectady Greenmarket on Sunday May 3, 2015.  Raised at a Saratoga Tree farm by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the saplings well suited to the area.  Tree species will include: Red Maple, White Spruce, Northern White Cedar (Arborvitae), European Larch, Osage Orange, Rugosa Rose and Toringo Crabapple.  Information on each tree species and planting instructions will be provided at Schenectady Greenmarket.

We bought these saplings as part of our ongoing Indian Meadows Tree Farm project. There are currently about 100 2-3 year old trees at the Tree Farm now. When they get large enough, they will be transplanted to other areas of the park as needed. We will be planting more trees and doing spring cleanup at the tree farm on Saturday, May 2nd
